Version 1.0 (draft) · Last updated 7 September 2026

Draft for review. Written to cover what UK law requires of a consumer retailer selling online. Anything shown as a chip is a placeholder still to be filled in. Have a solicitor read it before launch — particularly the Care+ and finance clauses.

1About us and these terms

Big Bargains is a trading name of registered company name, company number 00000000, registered office registered address, VAT number GB000000000. These terms apply to everything you buy from this website. By placing an order you accept them.

Nothing in these terms reduces your legal rights as a consumer. If any part conflicts with your legal rights, your legal rights apply.

2Our products

Our televisions are ex-catalogue stock. They are unused and supplied in their original packaging, but they are previous or discontinued models rather than current lines, and they do not carry a manufacturer's guarantee. They are covered instead by our own warranty.

Where an item is described as refurbished, it has been used, inspected and graded. The grade is shown on the product page.

Product images are illustrative. Specifications are taken from the manufacturer's published information and we check them carefully, but if a detail matters to you, please confirm it with us before ordering.

Stock levels shown are as accurate as we can make them. Occasionally an item sells in the shop at the same moment it sells online. If that happens we will contact you, offer an alternative, and refund you in full if you would rather not take it.

3Placing an order

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you an email confirming the item has been dispatched or is ready for collection. Until then we may decline the order, for example if the item is out of stock or the price was listed incorrectly.

4Prices and payment

All prices include VAT at the current rate. Delivery is charged separately and shown before you pay.

Where we show an RRP, that is the manufacturer's recommended retail price for the model at launch. It is not a price we previously charged. Because our stock is ex-catalogue, RRP is given so you can see what the model originally sold for.

Payment is taken by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.

If we spot an obvious pricing error before dispatch we will contact you and let you choose between paying the correct price or cancelling for a full refund.

5Discount codes

  • One code per order. Codes cannot be combined with each other.
  • Each code has its own minimum spend, maximum discount and expiry date, shown when the code is issued.
  • The first-order code is worth 10% off, up to a maximum discount of £50, on a minimum spend of £50. It is valid for 30 days and can be used once.
  • Discounts apply to the price of goods only, not to delivery, installation or Care+.
  • Codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or refunded.
  • If you cancel part of an order and the remaining goods fall below the minimum spend, we may recalculate the discount before refunding you.
  • We may withdraw a code at any time, but we will honour any code already issued within its stated validity.

6Delivery and collection

OptionCostDetail
Local delivery and setup£11.99Delivered by us within Derby and the surrounding area, booked to a time slot
Local delivery with wall mounting£56.99Televisions of 55" and above. Bracket supplied and fitted, old television removed and recycled
Click and collectFreeReady at the shop within one hour during opening times
Standard UK delivery£4.95Smaller items only, by tracked courier, two to three working days

We will agree a delivery slot with you and confirm it by email or text. If nobody is there when we arrive we will contact you to rebook, and we may charge £11.99 for a second attempt.

Please tell us about anything affecting access — stairs, lifts, narrow doorways, parking — when you order. Our team will carry an item to the room you want where it is safe to do so, but we may decline if it cannot be done safely.

Wall mounting is carried out on walls suitable for it. Our fitter will assess the wall on arrival and will not fit a bracket where the wall will not safely take the weight; we then deliver as normal and refund the mounting charge.

Goods become your responsibility once delivered or collected. Ownership passes when we have received full payment.

7Cancelling your order

You have a legal right to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. You may cancel at any time from ordering until 14 days after the day you receive the goods, without giving a reason.

Tell us by email, phone, or in the shop. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods. You may examine an item as you would in a shop, but if you use it beyond that we may reduce your refund to reflect the loss in value.

We refund the price of the goods and the standard delivery cost within 14 days of getting the goods back. You pay the cost of returning them unless the item is faulty or not as described.

This right does not apply to items sealed for hygiene reasons where the seal has been broken, such as in-ear headphones, or to digital content once downloading has begun.

Separately, we operate a 14-day exchange policy on unopened items bought in the shop.

8Faulty goods and your rights

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not:

  • within 30 days of delivery you can reject them and get a full refund;
  • within six months you can ask for a repair or replacement, and a refund if that is not possible;
  • after six months the same applies, but you may need to show the fault was there when you bought it.

These rights last up to six years in England and Wales and are not affected by our warranty or by Care+. When judging whether an ex-catalogue item is of satisfactory quality, its age, price and discontinued status are all taken into account.

9Our warranty

We include our own warranty with everything we sell, at no cost: 6 months on televisions, and 3 months on phones, speakers, headphones, accessories and other electronics, from the date of delivery or collection.

It covers mechanical and electrical failure in normal domestic use. We will repair the item, or replace it with the same or an equivalent model if a repair is not possible. If neither is possible we will refund you.

It does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, cosmetic wear, consumable parts, damage from misuse or from repairs by anyone else, loss or theft, or software and account problems that are not a hardware fault. Domestic use only.

To claim, contact us with your order number. Your warranty record is also visible in your account. Our warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and does not replace them.

10Care+

Care+ is our own extended cover, sold as an optional extra. It adds 6 months to the warranty included with the item, on the same terms and with the same exclusions.

DepartmentCare+Total cover
Televisions£39.9912 months
Mobile phones£29.999 months
Speakers and headphones£19.999 months
Other electronics£14.999 months

Care+ is bought at the same time as the item and covers that item only. It runs from the date of delivery or collection, not from the date the included warranty ends. It transfers with the item if you pass it on, but cannot be moved to a different item.

You can cancel Care+ within 14 days for a full refund. After that we will refund the unused portion, less any claim already made. Where we replace an item under Care+, cover continues on the replacement for the remainder of the original term and is not restarted.

Care+ is not an insurance policy. It is a service contract between you and us. It does not cover accidental damage, and it does not affect your statutory rights.

11Finance

We can sometimes arrange for the cost of a purchase to be spread over a period. Any such arrangement is separate from these terms and subject to its own written agreement, which we will give you before you commit to anything. Nothing on this website is an offer of credit, and nothing here should be taken as advice about whether an arrangement is suitable for you. Ask in the shop or contact us and we will explain what is available.

12Your account

We create an account for you when you order, so your order and warranty records can be found later. You sign in with a single-use link sent to your email address, so there is no password. Please keep access to your email secure, and tell us if you think someone else has access to your account. You can ask us to close your account at any time, though we will keep the records described in our privacy notice.

13Our liability to you

If we fail to comply with these terms we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that failure. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for loss of profit, business or opportunity, since you are buying as a consumer.

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We are not liable for delays outside our control, but we will tell you as soon as we can and you may cancel and be refunded if the delay is substantial.

14Complaints and governing law

If something has gone wrong, please tell us — email hello@bigbargains.co.uk, call 01332 000000, or come into the shop. We will acknowledge your complaint within three working days and aim to resolve it within 14 days.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales.
